Ottawa is rejecting a study that says the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline would inflict more harm on the environment than first thought.
Researchers at the Stockholm Environment Institute say the negative impact could be up to four times greater than previously estimated.
However, the Harper government says the study is based on some false assumptions.
The Obama Administration has yet to decide if it will approve the proposed pipeline, which would carry Alberta oilsands bitumen to refineries in Texas.
