Phil Norton has been a life-long nature lover with an environmental science degree from Penn State University. His other life-long passion is photography which he began as a teenager on family vacations to New York and New England and exploring his home Pennsylvania woodlands with friends. In Quebec he worked bilingual weekly newspapers and 6 years at the daily Montreal Gazette. As a freelance writer he contributed to Canadian Geographic and Harrowsmith Magazines, covering such environmental subjects as acid rain, maple dieback, nuclear waste and pesticides.
Since moving to Prince Edward County in 2007 he has served on Quinte Conservation’s Source Protection Committee following a decade of experience in watershed management on the Chateauguay River in Quebec. His slide presentation will focus on his work as an eco-tourism guide locally. His group outings program, “Photography & Fitness”, goes out twice a week since 2012 to discover the Quinte Region including our conservation areas, farms and small towns in all seasons, all weather and all times of day and night.
