More than 2,000 plants were planted by community volunteers during a two-day planting event at Clifford Sonny Belch Park in Belleville.
The event hosted by the City of Belleville and the Quinte Field Naturalists and several other partners, saw more than 1,800 perennial wildflowers planted last Friday.
Community volunteers and students from St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School helped plant the flowers that will make up a wildflower meadow in the middle of the park.
The meadow will help improve biodiversity and support pollinators.
On Saturday, community volunteers helped plant a few hundred native shrubs on the sides of the new toboggan hill at the Park.
These native shrubs will produce berries and help provide birds, mammals and insects with food and shelter.
Sponsors of the events included Tree Canada, Home Hardware, Bird Friendly City, Rotary Club of Belleville and Noronco Sheet Metal
