Quinte Conservation’s (QC) Adopt an Acre is back and this year will support local pollinators through hands-on learning.
For a donation of $30, you can symbolically adopt an acre of protected QC land.
Each year, Adopt an Acre supports a different conservation project and this year proceeds will directly support the expansion of the Pollinator Meadow, enabling additional opportunities for community education and stewardship programs.
The Pollinator Meadow at South Potter’s Creek Conservation Area is part of the outdoor classroom experience, giving local schools and community groups the chance to plant native wildflowers, discover the important role these plants play in protecting pollinators, and observe pollinator species in action.
Lindsay Nash, Outreach and Stewardship Coordinator, says, “The Pollinator Meadow has grown into an incredible teaching tool, allowing visitors to see up close what native plantings look like while admiring the beautiful butterflies, bees, and other pollinator species.”
Nash continues, “By donating to Adopt an Acre, residents can help grow and protect the Pollinator Meadow, a living classroom, and support it through planting projects, educational signage, and meadow expansion”.
Each contribution accompanied by a certificate and tax receipt.
This year’s campaign comes with a special gift for individuals who symbolically adopt four or more acres.
Donors will receive a Limited-edition 10oz Yeti Rambler in white or rescue red.
Last year, Adopt an Acre played a pivotal role in supporting improvements at Beaver Meadow Conservation Area, where visitors will soon notice a new viewing platform and trail.
This year’s initiative runs until December 22.
