There may be plenty of snow on the ground but the Community Development Council of Quinte (CDC Quinte) is already thinking about summer.
The organization is now accepting registrations for the 2026 Community Garden Program.
CDC Quinte offers 145 raised garden beds located across six sites in Belleville, with an additional garden location in Frankford.
Registration is free, available on a first-come, first-served basis, and open to anyone interested in growing their own produce.
New for 2026, community gardeners will have year-round access to the gardens.
This expanded access allows participants to overwinter crops such as kale, spinach, leeks, garlic, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and parsnips.
Participation in the Community Garden Program helps increase access to affordable fresh vegetables, fosters a sense of community, encourages physical activity and time outdoors, and strengthens participants’ connection to the environment.
“CDC is excited to be opening the Community Gardens for 2026,” says Jim Mallabar, Community Garden Coordinator at CDC Quinte. “Last year, the Community Garden Program impacted more than 1,600 people.”

Registration can also be done in person at 65 Station Street Monday–Thursday 9am-5pm. (entrance at back).
