The next Bay of Quinte Greens’ Speaker Series Event will focus on drought and water scarcity.
A panel discussion: “When Wells Run Dry: Drought and Farming in the County,” will be held Wednesday March 25, at 6:30pm, at The Andrew, 31 King St. in Picton.
2025 brought one of the most severe droughts in the County’s history.
Wednesday’s event moves beyond abstract climate debates to hear from local farmers about what drought means – for crops, livestock, livelihoods, and the future of food production in the County.
Don Wilford will give a (very) brief overview of climate change and GHG emissions in the County, followed by a panel discussion, including farmers: Andy Margetson (beef), Sam Branderhorst (dairy) and Dave Gillinghham (grapes).
The panel will be led by President, Robin Reilly
Doors will open at 6:00pm for coffee and snacks, the discussion will commence at 6:30pm and we will serve pizza and coffee at 7:20pm.
