There are troubles for several residents living on Oak Lake.
Issues with water levels are causing soil erosion and damage to several homes on the small lake near Stirling.
Local contractor Bill Hyndman tells our newsroom he’s repaired two heavily damaged foundations and plans to fix a third are already in the works.
He says one home is so damaged, it will need to be moved further away from the water.
Lower Trent Conservation Communication and Outreach Coordinator Marilyn Bucholtz says there is no mechanism to control or calculate water levels on the Lake.
Bucholtz adds recreational boat use and wave action are contributing factors. She recommends to residents living along the water to create buffers with trees and shrubs to help prevent soil erosion.
