Residents throughout the entire Quinte Waste Solutions’ service area will be encouraged to recycle all of their single-use household batteries during the Week of November 10, and November 17.
Municipalities include:
City of Belleville, Centre Hastings, Marmora & Lake, Madoc Township, Prince Edward County, Stirling-Rawdon, Quinte West, Tyendinaga Township, and Tweed.
On October 30, residents will find a battery recycling bag in their mailbox.
Step 1 – Place used or unwanted single-use, dry cell batteries inside the Battery Recycling Bag that you will receive in your mailbox on October 30th.
Step 2 – Read the instructions on the bag carefully, fill the bag with your batteries, and seal the battery bag using the zip tab.
Step 3 – Place sealed battery bag on top of your curbside recycling box on your collection day that falls during the week of November 10th or November 17th, 2014.
It’s also a good idea to place masking tape over the terminals of any 6V, 9V, or button-type batteries as shown below:

The Orange bag is designed to be easily recognizable by our drivers. Never put batteries in your blue box loose, or outside of the dates of this one time event.
