Several public meetings and a lot of work of East lake residents and staff from Quinte Conservation have resulted in a plan to guide development around the lake.
Quinte Conservation’s Terry Murphy told Prince Edward County council’s Committee of the Whole that the East Lake Watershed Plan contained around 50 recommendations to keep the lake healthy.
Murphy said that studies had shown that at this time, East Lake is in very good shape, and should be kept that way.
Quinte Conservation will try to test the waters of the lake on an annual basis.
It’s hoped the watershed plan will guide any future development around the lake.
