It was hot last Wednesday in the Quinte region. So hot in fact that we now have a new high temperature record for a September 5.
According to readings taken at CFB Trenton, the mercury climbed to a steamy 30.7 degrees Celsius yesterday, slightly warmer than the previous record of 30.1 degrees set in 1999.
Temperatures moderated, topping out at around 23 degrees on Thursday, September 6.
That was followed up with a rain warning on Monday for most of the Quinte region to start the new work week.
The remnants of Tropical Depression Gordon affected the region beginning Sunday overnight and continuing Monday.
Total rainfall amounts in the range of 20 to 40 mm are possible by the time the rain tapers to scattered showers Monday night. The heaviest rain was expected Monday morning, during the rush hour.
