Quinte battery bag collection returns next week!
From Nov. 5th-16th, recycle your spent household batteries by placing them in a clear, resealable bag on top of your papers blue box on your regular collection day.
1. Gather all spent household batteries. This includes AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, 96, and button cell batteries.
2. Place a piece of masking tape on top of the exposed cell of these batteries. Ensure that 9V, 96, and button cell batteries are covered with masking tape on the exposed terminals (the top part with exposed metals).
3. Put all the batteries in a clear, resealable bag (like a sandwich bag) and recycle the batteries by placing the bag on top of you papers recycling box on your collection day.
If you don’t have a resealable clear bag, stop by Quinte Waste Solutions at 270 West St. in Trenton get a free one while supplies last.
Please place your bag of batteries on top of your papers blue box. Ensuring that the bags are placed in a clear resealable bag will allow the drivers to see what is in the bag.
Recycling batteries helps keep harmful chemicals out of our environment.
Batteries contain chemicals that can be harmful to wildlife when they leach into the environment. We send all the batteries collected from the curb to Raw Materials Company in Port Colborne Ontario.
Together we have recycled over 70,000lbs of batteries since the beginning of this program in 2013.
