Tyendinaga Township council is against a proposed new landfill facility near their eastern border.
Last night councillors discussed the Beachwood Road Environmental Centre, which proposes a landfill and a recycling and organics centre just off Deseronto Rd.
Township CAO Steve Mercer says the ground doesn’t work well for a dump.
Mercer says there’s plenty of Ontario land where there’s a deep clay base, perfect for a facility such as this.
Waste Management says the Beechwood Rd. facility could create up to 75 jobs for the Tyendinaga/ Napanee region.
