Next week is Canadian Environment Week.
The Canadian Commons established Canadian Environment Week in 1971 to highlight the climate and pollution issues facing the environment while also celebrating Canada’s environmental achievements.
The week coincides with United Nations World Environment Day and Canada’s Clean Air Day on June 5 and United Nations World Oceans Day on June 8.
This year, the United Nations theme for World Environment Day is “Generation Restoration,” focussing on land restoration, fighting desertification and drought resilience.
Environment Canada is encouraging Canadians to share pictures and ideas of how they are protecting Canada’s environment via direct message, by using #EnviroWeek and #GreeningOurFuture or tag them on their accounts: Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn and Instagram.
Environment Canada offers these other ways to recognize the week.
