This is Canadian Environment Week (June 1 to 7).
Since 1971, Canadian Environment Week has been celebrating Canada’s environmental accomplishments and encourages Canadians to conserve and protect their environment.
The week also coincides with some special environmentally focussed days, Canada Clean Air Day on June 4 and the United Nations World Environment Day on June 5.
This year’s theme for World Environment Day is ending plastic pollution.
Canadian Environment Week is following suit, celebrating actions taken to achieve decrease plastic pollution at home and globally.
Environment Canada is challenging citizens to participate in the #BeatPlasticPollution Challenge.
