This weekend marks the 48th Annual Waterfowl Weekend at Presqu’ile Provincial Park.
Waterfowl from over 20 species arrive in Presqu’ile Bay each spring to rest and feed before moving north to their nesting areas, giving birdwatchers a great opportunity to see and appreciate a wide range of waterfowl species.
Those new to birding, as well as experienced birders eager to expand their knowledge, can learn more from naturalist-led viewings.
Volunteer naturalists will be set up with telescopes at viewing stations in the park to help visitors get a closer look at the birds.
Events will run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on March 14 and 15.
The Lighthouse Interpretive Centre will also be open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with history displays and volunteers on hand to answer questions.
There will be duck-themed displays and children’s activities.
Support the work of The Friends of Presqu’ile Park by visiting the Lighthouse Gift Shop located within the Lighthouse Interpretive Centre. It will be open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Grab lunch at the fundraising barbecue running from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm outside the Lighthouse Interpretive Centre.
