| Following the overwhelming success of the inaugural year, Lower Trent Conservation is excited to welcome both returning and new volunteers to its Volunteer Trail Steward Program.
With ten conservation areas and seven natural habitat areas—spanning many kilometers of scenic trail—trail care is no small task. That’s where Trail Stewards come in. From clearing branches to identifying hazards, volunteers play a vital role in ensuring trails are safe, accessible, and beautiful all year long. 🛠️ What Trail Stewards Do:
🌱 What’s New for 2026: Invasive Species Focus This year, LTC is expanding the program to include a special focus on invasive species education and action. Beginning in May, Trail Stewards will have the opportunity to take part in a series of workshops and hands-on events focused on identifying and managing invasive plants within the organization’s conservation areas. Participants will learn how to recognize common invasive species, understand their impact on local ecosystems, and safely support removal efforts. This is a great opportunity to deepen your environmental knowledge while making a direct, lasting impact on the health of our natural spaces. Upcoming Trail Steward Info Sessions 1331 Pinewood School Rd, Codrington, ON Wednesday, April 22th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
