A group of volunteers from the Quinte Field Naturalists (QFN) were planting at Belleville’s Clifford Sonny Belch Park on Labour Day.
The enthusiastic group planted more than 200 native perennials.
The plants are bringing joy to more than just the people using the park.
Volunteers noted several sightings of Monarch butterflies as well as Black Swallowtail and European Common Blue butterflies.
QFN is hosting another community planting event October 3 at Clarence Bird Park on Hampton Ridge Drive in Belleville.
The event is being organized with the help of Rotary Club of Belleville and Kerr Sprinklers.
Volunteers are asked to register.
